AMETHI (UP): Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi began his two-day tour of his parliamentary constituency on Thursday. Soon after arrival at Indira Gandhi Udan Academy at 11.30 am, he straight headed for the proposed site of Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Petroleum Technology (RGIPT).
It may be mentioned, on February 20 in 2008, UPA Chairperson and Congress President Sonia Gandhi had laid the foundation stone for RGIPT and on the occasion, Union petroleum minister Murli Deorea and Union state minister Dinsha Patel and MP Rahul Gandhi were present.
For the academic session for 2008-09, MBA and two technical courses of this institute are being conducted from the campus of Feroz Gandhi Institute of Technology. Delay in construction of the campus for RGIPT was caused due to late allocation of required land by the state government. In future, at RGIPT several UG, PG and research courses would be started.
