Uttar Pradesh Congress Committee is holding a convention in Varanasi for two days from May 18. AICC general secretary Rahul Gandhi would arrive in Varanasi Wednesday morning. He would inaugurate the convention at Nadesar by hoisting the party flag and preside over a day-long meet of the state Congress.

Many important issues are likely to be discussed in the Convention which may include misrule of the Mayawati government in the state, disturbing law and order situation in the state, increasing atrocities on women, misuse of power and alleged commission of acts of crimes by BSP MLAs – one BSP MLA has been convicted by the court for murdering PWD Engineer for refusing to give donation for Chief Minister Mayawati’s birth day party and the other MLA is facing criminal trial for raping a minor girl along with police officials who in an effort to protect the BSP MLA put the minor girl in jail and let the MLA roam free.
