Sonia Gandhi at CPP meeting, asks Congress MPs to defend UPA government


Sonia Gandhi on Wednesday said that the Congress party must expose the doublespeak of the opposition parties and its obstructive behaviour in blocking Parliamentary proceedings. "It seems to be almost fashionable these days to criticise the government. We must not allow this to deflect us," said Sonia Gandhi
The Congress President also emphasized the need of discipline within the party and asked Congress MPs to work as a unit well before next polls. Sonia Gandhi was addressing the Congress Parliamentary Party (CPP) meet in New Delhi.
Sonia Gandhi also asked Congress leaders to speak forcefully and with confidence on what has been achieved. The UPA Chairperson also said that there is much to show despite difficult economic times.
"We must project our government's many accomplishments and our ambitious legislative agenda," said Sonia Gandhi. The Congress leader further said that there is need for greater interaction between Centre and states against the backdrop of the standoff on NCTC.
