Representatives of the riot victims of Gopalgarh in Rajasthan met Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi and sought the political intervention of the Congress leader for protection of innocent members of the minority community in the Bharatpur district of Rajasthan. A delegation of 25 Muslim social activists, elders from Mewat and victims of violence in Gopalgarh, Bharatpur, met Congress MP Rahul Gandhi at 10 Janpath in New Delhi. The delegation had met National Commission for Minorities in Delhi on 27th June.
“The delegates met him (Rahul Gandhi) for political intervention in Rajasthan so that innocent people from minority are protected and their property saved from Hindu fringe elements. The delegation members narrated the incident and gave a memorandum of demand,” said the delegation in a statement.
Rahul Gandhi assured the victims not to be worried as he promised to take actions and will talk to the chief minister of Rajasthan today, the delegation said. Delegates included members of Rajasthan Muslim Forum, members of victim families and others.
