Sonia Gandhi – the main force behind UPA’s welfare policies

Congress President and UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi has been giving directions to the Congress led UPA government at the Centre for framing pro-poor polices. The central government at the Centre has brought in a number of welfare schemes for the poor and downtrodden taking inspiration from Sonia Gandhi. The flag ship employment guarantee policy MNREGA, the landmark legislation of RTI, and the RTE policy are some examples. Sonia Gandhi always wanted to ensure the welfare and development of the poor in the country.
