Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi addressed a huge party rally at Dharamshala in Himachal Pradesh as part of his ongoing campaign for the upcoming Lok Sabha Polls. "Himachal Pradesh is a beautiful state and so are its people" said the Congress leader striking an emotional chord with the people of the beautiful hill state. "Whenever I came here, people always talked about love, affection and brother hood. Many other states should learn from you" he added.

Congress Vice President Sh. Rahul Gandhi struck an emotional chord with the students while addressing the NSUI National Convention in Talkatora Stadium at New Delhi.
While speaking on the occasion, the Congress leader said that Congress is a party which follows the ideology of Mahatma Gandhi. “I have seen so many conventions of Congress party, youth Congress but I find this as the most exciting one. We have been talking about opening doors in the NSUI and I feel that happy that we have got a new generation today in the outfit. Now we intent to gradually give you the responsibility to run the country gradually and the day we accomplish that half of the problems will be over”, Rahul Gandhi said.
“But you need to understand the habit of our opposition. It’s their strategy to oppose anything and everything which we do for the people. We follow the ideology of Gandhi ji. Our focus is to perform and to support the students of colleges and universities. We never promote anger. Whatever we do, we do it with love and peace and we take everybody along with us. You also should follow this; it’s your DNA. Never forget this even if the opposition provokes or teases you. Do your work with love” he urged.
Rahul Gandhi also lashed out at the BJP by saying it ignores the corruption takes place in the states ruled by the BJP. “Opposition roams around the country and talks of corruption. I want to give 2 – 3 examples. Whenever Congress sees the corruption it takes action. We brought RTI and Lokpal Bill. Now presented 6 anti–corruption bills are still pending in the parliament. It is the BJP which is opposing it”. “BJP doesn’t see the corruption in Karnataka. Their chief minister was sent to jail still on corruption charges, but is not visible for BJP. They don’t see corruption in Chhattisgarh, Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh. But they keep on delivering big lectures on corruption” he added.
“You have done well in universities. You could spread the message of RTI to 1, 30,000 people approximately. I also appreciate the initiatives like ‘Lead-Campus’ and ‘Youth Campus’ done by you. Other parties and students organizations work in old style. Leaders are being imposed from top which you know well” said Rahul Gandhi.
Maintaining that Congress has opened the closed doors politics and more so in NSUI and Youth Congress, he asked the party’s youth brigade to spread the word that corruption will come to an end only when closed doors of other organisations are also opened through elections. “Corruption will end only if the doors of politics are opened for the youth. We have begun this in NSUI. Other political parties also must follow this and open the doors for the youth” argued the congress President.

Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi kick-started party's poll campaign in Delhi by addressing a huge election rally at Mangolpuri. While speaking on the occasion, he showered praises on Congress government in Delhi led by Sheila Dixit and said that the Congress govt has transformed the state in the past 15 years. "The shining Metro in Delhi has become a model for others" he said. "The Congress Government in Delhi has welcomed the migrants with an open heart and also authorised several resettlement colonies in Delhi. Further ownership rights were handed over to 45 resettlement colonies also by the Congress Govt" said Rahul Gandhi.

Taking a dig at the opposition – mainly the Bharatiya Janata Party, Sonia Gandhi reiterated that Congress is not afraid of any party. "We are not afraid of the BJP or any other opposition party. We will continue our sincere efforts for the people of Karnataka and the people of the whole country," she asserted.

Praising the Congress Government in the state, Sonia Gandhi spoke about Karnataka government's Anna bhagya scheme (food security to BPL). She claimed that the state government has fulfilled all the promises made in the poll manifesto. The Congress President also referred to the food security bill and land acquisition bill brought in by the UPA Govt at the Centre. Sonia Gandhi asserted that UPA's land acquisition bill will work as safeguard to farmers of the country.

More than two lakh people had attended the meeting. Former chief minister SM Krishna, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and KPCC president Dr. G Parameshwar were also seated on the dais.

Rahul Gandhi to address Congress rally in Delhi on Sep 10

Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi will hand over ownership rights of houses to people in resettlement colonies in Delhi on September 10.  This was informed by Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit on Wednesday.

"We have so many resettlement colonies and people have been living in them since the time of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. But they have not been given ownership rights. Rahul Gandhi will give out certificates of ownership to lakhs of people on September 10," Dikshit said.

There are 45 resettlement colonies in the city, which are home to lakhs of people. Congress feels that the move could be a game-changer in the Assembly polls. Dikshit made the announcement at a function where the party released a brochure listing the Congress government's achievements in the last 15 years.

Last year, Dikshit had Congress president Sonia Gandhi issue provisional certificates of regularisation to unauthorised colonies. The CM also promised to regularise another 600 unauthorised colonies and said residents in Lal Dora areas would be allowed to expand their properties. "People have been living there for years and their families must have grown, so they need more space.
That is why we are allowing the extension... We are the first one to implement the Food Security Bill and it is Delhi that is governed by Aadhaar cards," she said.
