Lashing out against Mayawati for closing eyes to the misuse of MLA funds by her legislators, Congress (I) has accused her for allowing the public money to be used by BSP MLAs for their personal benefits. Apart from making away with public money, her MLAs have indulged in every sort of extortions and crimes including rapes and murders, said Congress (I) general secretary Rahul Gandhi while addressing a public meeting in the poll bound state. Anis Ahmed, a BSP minister in her government, is under scanner of Lakayukta for misuse of MLA funds. Anis is running Shafi Khan Memorial Muslim Educational Society. His wife is President of the society and his brother is administrator there. The Society is running three institutions: Shafi Public Senior Secondary School, Nishan Girls Inter College and Shafi Degree College. The Minister misused his MLA funds for the construction/repair of these three institutes owned by him. Lokayukta has registered a case against the Minister for misuse of public funds for personal purposes. Highlighting that her legislators are a band of opportunists, party-swappers, turncoats with no common ideology except to loot public funds, Rahul Gandhi urged the people to oust her government and vote for Congress (I) this time. He promised that Congress (I) would provide corruption-free and pro-people government.
