The Congress President Sonia Gandhi while addressing the MGNREGA Sammelan said the act has given a chance to the Aam Aadmi to articulate his needs, negotiate his rights, seek employment at his own will and live a life of self-respect and dignity. It helped to empower the poor in the villages and also could provide a feeling of social security. Sonia Gandhi also expressed happiness for the fact that the major beneficiaries of this scheme were women.
