Rahul Gandhi at Congress rally in Odisha: BJP does not see the problems of the poor
Nabarangpur: “The NDA leaders talk a lot but do nothing for the people. The pain and problems of the people are not visible for them” said Rahul Gandhi, the Congress Vice President, while addressing a huge Congress rally at Nabarangpur in Odisha.
“Odisha is a rich state; it has huge wealth, natural resources and forests. But though the state is rich, the people are poor here. There is no shortage of anything here. But your government take away your natural resources and sell it to big industrialists and only a handful people, not the people, avail benefits” said Rahul Gandhi taking on the BJD government in the state and continued, “The water for irrigation in Odisha is not reaching the people as it is being diverted to rich industrialists. I am not saying that industrialists should not get water and electricity. But what Congress believes is the poor also must get benefits alongwith the business people. There should be a balanced approach for development”.
Referring to UPA policies, the Congress leader commented, “In 2004, the Congress-led UPA Government at the Centre waived off debts of poor farmers, worth Rs. 70000 cr. When we were initiating that the opposition tried to block it by asking from where we will have funds for it. But we were determined and told them that farmers are the pillars of our nation and we will arrange money for their welfare. We showed them how to make funds for it. Then the opposition said loan-waiving was wastage of money. We replied that helping farmers is never wastage of funds for Congress. By helping farmers, we are actually helping our nation”.
He went on further striking a chord with the farmers there and said, “We then had fought for the farmers’ rights in their lands at Niyamgiri. The farmers had just asked one thing, if rich people can get adequate market prices for their lands, then why can’t the farmers? Congress felt that their demands were right. We took up their matter and fought for their rights. The Land Acquisition Law enacted by the UPA Government is its outcome. Now no one can grab any farmer’s land forcibly. Further, this new revised bill ensures four-times more market prices for the land acquired. I am also happy to convey that the farmers get 3 times more price for their crops than the NDA period”.
Rahul Gandhi then focussed on welfare of women and commented, “It is the women who run our country and development is not possible without them. We gave you 50% reservation for women in Panchayats and now we want to grant reservation for you in Parliament and assemblies. The bill for the same is still pending as the opposition has been blocking it. But I assure you that the Congress party will ensure its passage. We are also happy to connect lakhs of women with banks through Self Help Groups (SHG).Our manifesto for 2014 elections promises all-women-run police stations across the country”.
“Congress treats every citizen equally. For us all are equal - Hindu, Muslim, Christian. We work for the poor, Dalits, Adivasis, women and the youth and we fight to protect their rights.. Support Congress and elect our candidates” said the Congress Vice President while concluding his address.

Sonia Gandhi at Haryana: BJP sees only PM post, tries to fool people with false propaganda
Mewat: Congress President and UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi launched her election campaign in Haryana for the upcoming Lok Sabha polls by addressing a mega party rally at Mewat. “This is election time and we are all standing at a crucial phase today where one must decide on our country’s future. We must decide whether we want to take our country forward by strengthening our democracy by adhering to our ideology of love, brotherhood or do we need an ideology that divides the nation and its people. Our country has never faced such a serious challenge ever before and so we all must take decision after proper thinking” said Sonia Gandhi.
“The BJP has again come out with tall promises and by shedding crocodile tears. They have sent up huge campaign balloons and have been talking very big things. They have been trying to cover their real face with false propagandas. BJP sees just one thing, the PM’s chair and they try to fool people with wrong facts” said the Congress President.

How nation building can be possible by those who divide the country and its people?, she asked and asserted, “The history of Congress and the works done by us are before the people. No one can ignore the works done by the Congress before and after independence”.
Highlighting the achievements by the central government, Sonia Gandhi continued, “The UPA government at the Centre has implemented several programmes and policies for the welfare of the people, than any other previous non-Congress governments. Rahul Gandhi takes dig at BJP in Assam, says one can defeat hatred only through love
Rahul Gandhi mocks BJP in Assam, says India can shine only if we eradicate poverty completely
“We can defeat hatred only through love. One can never remove darkness using darkness; we need light to free from darkness. Similarly, only with love and brotherhood one can win over hatred” said Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi while addressing a huge election rally at Biswanath Chariali in Sonitpur, Assam on Thursday. “That is what you showed in Assam. You have peace not because of the Congress party, but it is due to the efforts of its people. You defeated violence with love and it is a good lesson for others to learn” he added.
“Ahead of every general election, the NDA comes out with a new campaign balloon. They prepared an ‘India Shining’ balloon in 2004. But when the ballot boxes were opened, they came to know that the poor in our country burst that fully filled hot air balloon. They had made a similar balloon in 2009 also. Even many media also had said that Congress was losing badly in that election. They had ruled out a possibility of Congress coming back to power again. But when the counting was over, their predictions went wrong and the NDA balloon was burst again” said Rahul Gandhi and asserted, “Now, in 2014 also, BJP and NDA are ready with another big balloon, fully filled with air. You can see, after the elections that too will explode, three times loudly than earlier ones. is not the Congress party which burst your balloon, but it is the poor. This time too, their hot air marketing balloon will be exploded by the people”.
Slamming the Gujarat model, the Congress leader continued, “People talk a lot about Gujarat model, nowadays. BJP says that Gujarat model must be replicated in all other states. I want to make them understand that Assam does not need Gujarat model, it needs Assam model” and added “Every place has its own relevance; every state has its own knowledge. The white revolution was possible due to the women in Gujarat, not of Modi government”.
“BJP thinks one ideology can run the entire country but the truth is that this country is not made of one thought or ideology but of thousands and lakhs of thoughts. They want to impose their ideology in Assam, Bihar, Tamil Nadu, Bihar and Maharashtra. But it is never possible” commented Rahul Gandhi.
“While Congress wants to empower people at all walks of life, BJP wants to give entire power to a single person. They think that only one person has the entire knowledge and they do not realise the power of the people. Congress knows that people possess knowledge and so their empowerment is necessary for development” explained the Congress Vice President.
“BJP's politics is about two things. First, pit Hindus against Muslims, the rich against the poor and people of Maharashtra against those from UP and Bihar. Just before the elections, riots started in Muzaffarnagar at UP. Second, they fail to see the pain of the poor. So they talk of things like 'India Shining' which I will never because I meet you every day and understand your suffering” further said Rahul Gandhi.
The Congress leader continued his attack on the BJP and said, “The opposition just sees the poverty from a distance and deliver big speeches from the stages. The opposition says 'India Shining', they market models, but India will only shine, when no one is poor. Our country will shine only if we eradicate poverty completely”.
“Support Congress and elect Congress candidates. We will surely fight for your rights” said Rahul Gandhi while concluding his address.

Rahul Gandhi at Congress manifesto release function: BJP balloon will burst soon
Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi while interacting with the media persons during the function to release the Congress manifesto for the 2014 general elections, expressed confidence that UPA will form the government again and said that BJP's campaign balloon will burst like 'India Shining' in 2004. The Congress vice President added, “I have a slight understanding of the ground reality in Uttar Pradesh. This BJP balloon is going to burst in UP 100%, not 90%." He insisted that it was the Congress which had more allies in the country but the popular projection was different. “NDA had BJD and JD(U) as its allies, but today they are not with NDA. But Congress did find new allies,” he said.
Rahul Gandhi said the Gujarat chief minister represents an ideology which is exclusionary, the kind that makes people fight. It will harm the country, and the Congress will defeat that thinking, he said. He also said the Congress is the only party that can focus on growth along with the welfare of the poor.
"The only way India will move forward is a partnership that includes the poor, dispossessed, others. You can't have a government which focuses only on one section," he said. "The future India will be built by poor people, those in the villages." The BJP's dream is an India where a few people run the country, he added.
“The manifesto that we have here is truly the voice of the people of this country. We had a manifesto in 2009 and I am proud to say that 90% that we have written in that manifesto have been delivered by the UPA government and the Prime Minister” said Rahul Gandhi.
“We commit to do exactly the same in 2014 manifesto. I would like to say a little about what Congress party stands for that is different than our opponents. We believe that for this country to grow there it needs to be a firm partnership between the business, between the economic sectors of this country and between the poor. We believe you cannot owe this country neglecting either business or neglecting the poor people. The best ideology is to do this is Congress party” asserted the Congress leader.
“We had long discussions with you and you have given us good suggestions. Porters at New Delhi railways gave their suggestions, fishermen in Maharashtra gave their views, women and tribal, all gave their respective suggestions to us...We put your voice with depth in our manifesto for the first time” said Rahul Gandhi explaining how his party drafted this election manifesto.

He also warned that BJP’s prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi's coming to power would be damaging for the country.

Rahul Gandhi at West Bengal: Communists, TMC failed the state; only Congress will serve people
Rahul Gandhi at West Bengal: Only a Congress government can ensure development
Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi addressed a rally of party workers at Jalpaiguri in West Bengal on Tuesday morning. He highlighted the achievements of the central government and appealed the people to support Congress in the upcoming Lok Sabha Polls. “The UPA Government at the Centre, in the past ten years, implemented several policies and programmes for the welfare of the people. MNREGA – the biggest employment guarantee scheme in the world- ensures a minimum of 100 days jobs to our rural masses, without any discrimination”, said the Congress leader.
Referring Centre’s flagship RTI Act, Rahul Gandhi said, “Earlier all policy decisions were used to take behind closed doors by some bureaucrats and ministers and people normally get no idea. But, today, any citizen can get information regarding government functioning after we implemented Right to Information Act. It entitles every person to gather information on any administrative matters. Similarly we also granted rights to food through the Food Security Bill. Every poor in our country is guaranteed to get food grains”.
“The farmers in our country shed their sweat and blood in their lands but one day governments grab their lands without giving proper compensation. The old Land Bill, which was made by British, was not able to solve this menace. But now, the new revised Land Acquisition Bill prevents all such acts and the farmers are ensured with proper and adequate compensation for the lands acquired and it prevents any forcible land acquisition” informed the Congress Vice President. “Our efforts have been to build a strong floor, based on their rights, under the feet of the poor so that they feel their role in nation building” underlined Rahul Gandhi.
Slamming the present TMC government in the state, the Congress leader continued, “We send huge funds for education, health and roads to West Bengal also; we are sending more funds to Bengal than any other states. But those funds are not being used properly here. I just could see myself the pathetic conditions of the gutter-filled roads here. It is the people who suffer due to this; they face difficulties if they are not able to get proper health, education and road facilities. We send crores of rupees for Bengal’s development. This is your money and not of any minister or MLA. The sad fact is that the funds do reach Kolkata but do not reach the people. We need to change this. Your money must reach you”.
“Earlier you were under Communist regime. Communism is a failed ideology. The Russia rejected it, China changed it. I feel happy that the people of Bengal also threw it out from the state. There was a hope that you will have a new government that will fight for the people and improve the situation in the fields of education, health, employment generation, universities and roads. But unfortunately experience disappointed us. The present TMC government also followed the same footsteps of Communists. They had opposed the Left but followed the same principles” said Rahul Gandhi amidst loud cheers from the gathering.
“Now, it is sure, that only one government can transform the system. Only one government can improve the conditions of education, health and infrastructure and that is a Congress government” said the Congress campaign head and urged the people to elect Congress candidates for proper development of West Bengal.

Rahul Gandhi in Pratapgarh (UP): BJP filled with anger; Congress believes in love, brotherhood
Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi addressed a mammoth election rally at Pratapgarh in Uttar Pradesh as part of his campaign for the upcoming Lok Sabha polls. In an indirect at BJP's prime ministerial candidate and Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi, Rahul Gandhi lamented, "The opposition believes that one man can run our country. When their leader boasts about Gujarat's development and takes the entire credit for it, he forgets that it is the people of Gujarat, its women, developed the state". "One person can never run a nation; it is run by the people; people have the strength. This has been the concept of the Congress party. While we want to empower our people to the maximum, the BJP wants to grab people's power and hand over it to one individual" he added.

Rahul Gandhi in UP: BJP is far below in performance than Congress, but ahead in marketing
“Congress does work for all; but we must admit one thing - in Marketing, BJP is very much ahead of us, though they are far below in performance” said Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi while addressing a mammoth election rally at Pratapgarh in Uttar Pradesh.
“The coming general election is a battle between two thoughts – one that of Congress which is based on love, affection, brotherhood and inclusive growth; the other ideology is based on anger, hatred and of pitting one against another” reminded the Congress leader.
In an indirect at BJP’s prime ministerial candidate and Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi, Rahul Gandhi lamented, “The opposition believes that one man can run our country. When their leader boasts about Gujarat’s development and takes the entire credit for it, he forgets that it is the people of Gujarat, its women, developed the state”. “One person can never run a nation; it is run by the people; people have the strength. This has been the concept of the Congress party. While we want to empower our people to the maximum, the BJP wants to grab people’s power and hand over it to one individual” he added.
Emphasising that Congress believes in empowering the people, the Congress Vice President said, “You can see that our programmes reflect our ideology, whether it is employment guarantee scheme, Right to Information, Land Acquisition Bill or the Food security Act. All our schemes and policies are aimed at empowering the people”.
Referring the issue of corruption, Rahul Gandhi continued, “There are lots of discussions about corruption. The Gujarat cabinet has three convicted ministers, who were jailed on corruption charges. The BJP does not see corruption under its nose whether it is in Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh or Chhattisgarh. Yeddyurappa, former Chief Minister of Karnataka, who had sent to jail for corruption, is now back in BJP”.
The young Congress leader then struck a chord with the women and continued, “I want to see a day when 50% representation in Parliament, assemblies as well as in the Congress party is women. Country can never develop if we do not empower our women. 50% of our population is women and if we want to make India a super power, this 50% must be adequately empowered. The bill for women reservation is still pending in Parliament. But the opposition is stopping its passage; they are scared of the power of women. They don’t want the women to run industries, universities, Parliament or Assemblies or become Prime Minister or Chief Minister. Congress wants to give power to the women – in education, in Lok Sabha, in assemblies, politics, business and entrepreneurship”.
“Opposition indulge in politics of anger and hatred. But Congress’ ideology is based on love and brotherhood. That has been our tradition and now BJP wants to kill this ideology. They do not understand that Congress is not a party but a concept, which is deep, rooted in the hearts of all Indians. Our ideology is of equality; we treat everyone equally without any discrimination, whatever the caste, religion or region is” said Rahul Gandhi and asserted that UP can surge ahead fast only if the non-Congress political parties stop indulging in divisive politics.

Rahul Gandhi in HP: For Congress, all are equal irrespective of their caste, religion or region
Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi addressed a huge party rally at Dharamshala in Himachal Pradesh as part of his ongoing campaign for the upcoming Lok Sabha Polls. “Himachal Pradesh is a beautiful state and so are its people” said the Congress leader striking an emotional chord with the people of the beautiful hill state. “Whenever I came here, people always talked about love, affection and brother hood. Many other states should learn from you” he added.
Highlighting the works done by the Congress government in the state, Rahul Gandhi said, “The Congress government has done a lot to improve the infrastructure in Himachal Pradesh. The state can never surge ahead without adequate infrastructure. We have improved the drinking water distribution system in Dharamshala, initiated irrigation using the Swan river at Una, developed industrial area at Pandoga and Kandrori, sanctioned Rs. 7000 crore and 62 new industries here. As far as to improve the connectivity, the work of Rohtang tunnel connecting Himachal Pradesh to Ladak is soon to be completed”.
To explain the Congress’ ideology, the party vice-president explained, “I also want to share with you how Congress works. There are two ways to do things. One is that of Gandhi Ji – to work with love, affection and brotherhood. That is what Himachal Pradesh taught us and the women assembled here teach us. The other way is to do things with anger – the politics of making people fight each other. Opposition must understand that they can achieve nothing if they follow this path”.
Rahul Gandhi then turned his attention to the women in the audience; “I see a lot of women here. I am happy to see them in large numbers. You had demanded for an increase of subsidized LPG cylinders to 12. As I had conveyed the demand for one-rank-one-pension scheme for Ex-servicemen, I had also conveyed this demand too to the Prime Minister. He took no time to take a decision as he was convinced that your demand is genuine. I also understand that even 12 cylinders are not adequate” he said and the crowd greeted it with huge cheers.
“50 per cent of our population is women. I dream for a day when 50% members in Lok Sabha and Assemblies are women. I want most of our ministers; Chief Ministers and even our Prime Minister are women. I want to empower you” he added and continued. “The opposition blocked the women reservation bill inside the Parliament. I asked some opposition leaders why they oppose this Bill. They say that if the Women Reservation Bill is passed, many of their seats will be reserved for the women and that will harm their interest. That is why they want to keep you outside the system”. “I want to assure you that Congress party will ensure reservation for women in Parliament and Assemblies as well as in our party. We also will ensure adequate youth representation” promised Rahul Gandhi
“Congress party belongs to all. It fights for the poor, downtrodden, youth and the women. We want to serve all without any discrimination. We want no one to lag behind. All are equal for us, irrespective of their caste, colour, religion or region” asserted the Congress leader. “We are going to face yet another election and with the support and affection of the people, Congress party will secure a big win. Please go the people and spread our policies and tell what benefits people get from our schemes and policies” concluded Rahul Gandhi.

The Congress leader said that his party kept its promises of improving connectivity in Meghalaya. “Now there is direct road connectivity between Tura and Shillong. North Garo Hills is going to be connected by railway line from April 1,” he added.

“I want to thank you for putting your lives at risk for securing the country.. In the next decade, we will give your children jobs especially in the manufacturing sector” said Rahul Gandhi and struck a chord with the gathering by saying, “If you have any issues, you can come to me at any time; my doors are always open for you.”
Slamming the opposition, the Congress leader commented, “Opposition believes in the politics of discrimination, but Congress believes all are crucial for the development of the country”. “The way our economy has raised in the last decade has never happened before” he told Ex-servicemen.
“Many leaders come to you, deliver big speeches and vanish. But I have come here to listen to your issues, to get your ideas. Whatever you told me, I have listened and put that in my heart. I will do my best to support you,” assured Rahul Gandhi.
Continuing his attack on the opposition, the Congress Vice President said, “The Opposition has the ideology that only the businessmen contribute to the development.. You can fool all the people some of the time, but you cannot fool all the people all the time”.
“In the past ten years a new class have emerged. We will now focus of upliftment of this new class emerged of about 70 crore people which are above BPL but below middle class.. We could build a strong floor under the feet of the poor through our MNREGA, Food Security Bill, Aadhar and Land Bills,” added Rahul Gandhi.

Rahul Gandhi in Manipur: We will defeat BJP because we have the support of the people
Rahul Gandhi in Manipur: Only Congress respects the idea, culture and belief of every individual
Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi while addressing a huge party rally in Manipur on Wednesday as part of his ongoing Lok Sabha election campaign said that Congress is the only party that respected the idea, culture and belief of every individual.
Rahul Gandhi while speaking at the rally at Wangjing Kodompokpi ground, 23km south of Imphal, in Thoubal district in the state, also struck a chord with the women, who comprised more than half of the gathering at the rally and said, “Manipuri women work harder than anyone in the country. But society does not give them power. We will love to introduce women like Mary Kom to Parliament and state Assemblies.”
The crowd was bigger than the Narendra Modi rally held in Imphal West last month. Rahul Gandhi glanced over the party’s achievements and future plans in Manipur — particularly a railway network to connect the state to the rest of the country. He highlighted the Congress’s role in the development of Manipur since it attained statehood in 1972. The Congress leader promised speedy development of the state if the UPA comes to power for the third term. “In 1972, Indira Gandhi came here and participated in a function that gave you your state, Manipur. She said that Manipur was a real gem. This also shows what the Congress thinks of Manipur – and not just about Manipur but every single state in the country…,” said Rahul.
Taking a dig at the BJP, Rahul Gandhi asked what the Gujarat model of development had got to do with Manipur, Meghalaya or Uttar Pradesh. “He (Modi) talks of the Gujarat model. But what does the Gujarat model have to do with Manipur? What does the Gujarat model have to do with Uttar Pradesh or Bihar or Meghalaya or any other state for that matter?… I respect the people of Manipur, and believe that the only model that should work for Manipur is the Manipur model,” he said.
“We are different from the BJP. We respect idea, culture and religion of each citizen while the BJP imposes its ideas on the people. The killing of Nido Tania was the outcome of the imposition of their idea,” said the Congress Vice President. “We will defeat them (the BJP) because we have the support of the people,” he added. "We don't want to impose anything on Manipur. We are proud of the language and culture of Manipur as we are proud of all others," said the young Congress leader, "India is garden of flowers; big, small, different colours. We respect each of these flowers. Our opposition wants only one kind," Rahul Gandhi said.
Rahul Gandhi also talked about the ongoing peace process with more than 20 militant groups of Manipur and withdrawal of the Armed Forces (Special Powers) Act from seven Assembly constituencies within the Imphal municipal limit. "Hospitals with 100 beds have been built in five districts, and sports complexes were being built in every district of the state, home to Olympian boxer Mary Kom," he added.
Rahul Gandhi reached the venue and the Congress workers gave a rousing welcome to their favourite leader. Wangjing neighbours Khangabok Assembly constituency, represented by Landhoni Devi, wife of chief minister Okram Ibobi Singh, for two consecutive terms.
