Mayawati swindled money of the poor: Rahul Gandhi


Accusing Mayawati of looting funds meant for welfare schemes, Congress (I) General Secretary Rahul Gandhi said her government swindled money which centre had sent for the poor in UP.  Instead of the money reaching the poor, it disappeared in the way, Rahul Gandhi said while campaigning for the ongoing Assembly elections.  Poor people got nothing while the corrupt ministers of Mayawati government filled their pockets, he further said. MGNREGA – a national employment scheme – a flagship program of Congress (I) UPA government is meant to alleviate poverty by generating employment opportunities in rural areas. This scheme is tremendous success in Congress (I) ruled states but Mayawati government deprived its benefits to the poor. Highlighting that this position will not change unless BSP is voted out, Rahul Gandhi urged the people this time to vote for Congress (I).  He assured that a government of the poor by Congress (I) will ensure that the benefits of the welfare scheme reach the poor.

Mayawati interested only for making money, not progress: Rahul Gandhi


Holding Mayawati responsible for no development in the state, Congress (I) General Secretary Rahul Gandhi has lashed out against her for keep demanding more funds under one pretext or the other. She did not utilise the already sanctioned funds on implementing developmental works and welfare schemes, Rahul Gandhi said while campaigning for the ongoing Assembly elections. Congress (I)-led UPA government at the Center had sanctioned a special package of Rs 8,000 crore for development of drought hit Bundelkhand. But Mayawati government could spend only 8 to 9% of those funds. She miserably failed to implement development schemes for the poor people. To divert the attention of the people from lack of development she indulged in politicking. Highlighting that she failed to implement development schemes and improve the lot of the poor Rahul Gandhi said she does not deserve the vote of the people anymore. He appealed the people to vote for Congress (I) and assured that his party would put the state of fast track development and ensure welfare of the people.

We had not showered promises but assured only one thing – a government of aam aadmi that works for poor, farmers, minorities, women, dalits, Christian, Muslims, Hindu and adivasis. We had told you that our Government will come to you, hear your problems and will support all sections of the people and we delivered it. In 2009, you gave us mandate again, with a better margin,” said the Congress General Secretary.

You had supported the Cycle as well as the Elephant. But the state of Utatr Pradesh remains the same without any development” said Rahul Gandhi.

Rahul Gandhi in Bisalpur strikes chord with the youth


“I am here not to make any promise but to fight to bring in positive changes in UP,” said Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi while addressing a big election rally in Bisalpur as part of his campaign in the poll bound state of Uttar Pradesh.
Addressing the youth, he said, “The time has come for a change; so stand up, fight to bring in positive changes in UP. You have been tolerating the bad state of affairs for the past 22 years. Now stop tolerating and fight for a change. Let us form a Government of youth and aam aadmi”.
Rahul Gandhi then told the good number of Sikhs present in the crowd, “You put in your hard work and developed Punjab. You gave us a Sikh Prime Minister. Now please help us to transform UP too.”
"A Congress Government will bring back progress in Uttar Pradesh. Do not think about caste or religion and talk about development of the entire section of the people. Give Congress 5 years; the changes will be visible in five years and in ten years you will not recognize your own state,” concluded Rahul Gandhi, urging the people to support Congress and elect Congress candidates in the ongoing assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh.

Mayawati responsible for misrule in UP: Congress (I)


Blaming Mayawati for rampant corruption in UP, Congress (I) has said this situation has been bred by Mayawati herself. Desperate to grab power she inducted corrupt politicians, opportunists and persons of criminal background.  Over two dozen BSP MPs, MLAs and ministers have been booked for alleged criminal activities.

Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi during his public meeting in poll bound UP state highlighted that the situation throughout Mayawati’s regime was no better. For instance recently Behenji's party MLA from Meerut, Haji Yaqoob Qureshi was accused of assaulting a policeman. Qureshi slapped police constable and tore his uniform when he stopped the MLA's cavalcade to take the route earmarked for Ravidas Jayanti procession. The Meerut administration ordered an inquiry into the matter but no action was taken against the MLA.

Rahul Gandhi urged the people to support Congress (I) to end Mayawati’s BSP misrule in the state.
