Congress (I) has said while very body in the country is concerned about corruption Mayawati’s BSP government did not come down heavily on cases of corruption and crime. During last eight years Mayawati has been soft on corruption while only giving lip sympathy to the issue to show that she was as much concerned with corruption. Congress (I) said Mayawati had made law and order an election issue but after coming into power she did not do anything concrete in this direction. People are saying if Mayawati had taken strong action against corruption then the present situation would not have arisen. As Congress (I) said it is not one case or two cases of corruption that have been surfacing. According to one economic survey 80% of Mayawati’s legislators are corrupt or involved in some form of corruption. People are looking towards Congress (I) to return to power for reversing the situation and bringing the era of peace, prosperity and development again in the state of Uttar Pradesh, said Congress (I).
