Slamming Uttar Pradesh government for not working for development of the dalits and poor, Congress (I) has said Mayawati has failed to fulfill the aspirations of the people of state. She promised to work for dalit. Innocent poor believing it voted for her. But once in power Mayawati forget the poor and assumed arrogance towards them. Earlier Congress (I) governments had given land to landless poor. But Mayawati forcibly acquired those lands and resold those lands to private builders. Congress (I) has said this confirms Mayawati has been working for the interest of the rich and against the interests of the dalits and poor. Mayawati has also shown no interest in controlling atrocities and rape crime against dalit women. Only thing she has done for such victims is to hand them over cheques at public meetings as compensation for torture undergone. Congress (I) says this added insult to their injury.
