Ridiculing Mayawati for not fulfilling her promises to the people after having been four times chief minister of the state, Congress (I) General Secretary Rahul Gandhi has said she could not provide even basic facilities to the people of Uttar Pradesh. Under her government even safe drinking water is not available in some districts, said Rahul Gandhi while addressing public meetings for the ongoing Assembly elections 2012. Her failure to do this confirms that she lacks will as well as ability to implement pro-people measures, he further said. Roads in the state have more pit holes than tar on the surface. Canals are dry. Rivers are contaminated with industrial effluents. In many districts safe drinking water is not available. Health care services are nearly non-existent in some districts in spite of Rs 10,000 crores funds provided by the center for this very purpose under NRHM. People are angrily asking where the money has disappeared sent by Congress (I)-led UPA government for welfare and development schemes. Highlighting that all parties which have ruled the state during the last twenty years have been looting the government treasury, Rahul Gandhi urged the people to reject these parties. He appealed the people this time to give a chance to Congress (I) to form government and assured that it would work for their welfare and development of the state. “Congress (I) will fulfill its promises to the people,” he added.
