Mayawati prefer stone statues to the people: Rahul Gandhi

Criticising Mayawati for not attending to the issues and problems of the people, Congress General Secretary RahulGandhi has said she has been busy in building parks and statues in her and her party’s name to perpetuate her memory.  She has been doing it at the cost of public money. Last year she built one park for Rs 694 crores in the poor state of Uttar Pradesh. It is a waste of public money. Significantly it brought out a sign of psychological unrest in Mayawati’s mind. She is apprehensive that people might not remember her after she is gone. Otherwise there was no reason why building of parks and her own statues should take priority over burning public issues like corruption, ill governance and farmers’ agitation, said Rahul Gandhi while addressing a public meeting for upcoming UP Assembly elections in February 2012. He reminded the people that Mayawati proved failure to attend to their issues. He urged them to give this time a chance to Congress (I) to form government and assured that it would provide good governance and develop Uttar Pradesh to No. 1 position in the country.
