Replace Akali-BJP Government with Congress: Sonia Gandhi


Congress president Sonia Gandhi while launching the Congress campaign in the poll bound Punjab attacked the SAD-BJP government in Punjab for blocking development of the state. The UPA Chairperson while addressing a public rally in Kapurthala urged the people to throw out the present government and replace the anti-poor government with a Congress Government.
Sonia Gandhi started her speech paying tribute to the holy town of Sultanpur Lodhi  where Guru Nanak Dev spent about 14 years of his life and attained enlightenment.  Sonia Gandhi said that the SAD-BJP government created a big hindrance in the development of the state as it had not let Central schemes to get implemented here.
The Congress President said that the Centre had provided funds of several thousand crores to the SAD-BJP government but it did not allow these funds to reach to the common man. Giving figures, she said the Centre provided Rs 5,000 crore under the MGNREGA scheme, but the SAD-BJP government utilised only Rs 526 crore. Had the Centre not provided it the money, the SAD-BJP government would have to put an end to its atta-dal scheme, added Sonia Gandhi.
Attacking the SAD-BJP government time and again in her address, Sonia Gandhi alleged it had not cared even a bit for the poor. All sections of the society, including farmers and industrialists, had been fed up with the SAD-BJP government, said Sonia Gandhi.
Whatever development the state had seen since Independence was during the Congress regimes only, claimed Sonia Gandhi.
