Mayawati kept Bundelkhand underdeveloped: Rahul Gandhi

Blaming BSP supremo Mayawati for ignoring the issues of drought-hit Bundelkhand and also for not undertaking development in that region, Congress (I) General Secretary Rahul Gandhi had said that she deliberately neglected this part of the state.  “She neglected to undertake development activities in Bundelkhand despite a special package of Rs 8,000 crores was approved by Congress (I)-led UPA government at the center”, said Rahul Gandhi while campaigning for Congress in Uttar Pradesh.
“She has been taking the excuse of lack of funds for the development.  But the Comptroller and Auditor General (GAC) report has exposed her on this count.  The report has pointed that state government could not even utilized 10% of the special package sanctioned by Center for integrated development of Bundelkhand. This region is rich in mineral resources”, said Rahul Gandhi.
Rahul Gandhi continued, “For instance while the state’s mining department outlay for 2010-11 was only Rs 16 crore it generated revenue of Rs 838 crore. This clearly shows that Mayawati has been exploiting this region and keeping it underdeveloped”.
However, to bring Bundelkhand at par with other regions of the state, Rahul Gandhi said Congress (I) in its manifesto has promised development for the region.
