Congress President and UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi addressed a mammoth election rally at Mandvi (Surat) in South Gujarat on Friday as part of her campaign for the upcoming assembly elections in the state. She took on the Modi-led BJP government in the state and said that the people are fed up with the present state government. “I feel very happy to be here in this beautiful land. I am more delighted for the fact that I am standing at the same place from where Indira Gandhi had addressed you. This is also the land of several eminent social workers who had devoted their entire life to work for the upliftment of Adivasis and other underprivileged people. This region also had given the first and the only Adivasi Chief Minister of the state, Sh. Amar Singh Choudhary” said Sonia Gandhi.
