Priyanka Gandhi Vadra: BSP Government failed to implement Central policies

Priyanka Gandhi said that the Central schemes and policies were not being implemented properly in U.P, especially in Raebareli. “Now you are getting an opportunity on the 19th to change this state of affairs. You must have seen that electric poles were erected and wiring has been done in your region. But there is no electricity. Similarly the water canals were repaired and cleaned, but still no water is available. The fertilizers sent by the Centre do not reach you. What does it show? The development in your region is not taking place in an adequate manner,” she argued.

She was talking at an election meeting at Raebareli, the Parliament constituency of her mother and Congress President Sonia Gandhi.

Explaining the lack of cooperation by the BSP Government, Priyanka Gandhi continued, “The Central Government and your M.P Sonia Ji try their maximum to help the people in Raebareli but the MLA and the state Government create hurdles. The erection of electric poles and the wiring were the responsibilities of Sonia Ji and she did fulfill it. But providing electricity is the responsibility of the state. Similarly it was the responsibility of the state to make the water available in the canals”.

Taking a jab at the BSP Government, Priyanka Gandhi quipped, “Surprisingly, for the past two-three days, the water is available in the canals. The reason is obvious - the coming assembly elections. Unfortunately you have such a Government which thinks that the people need water only during elections. What benefit are you going to avail from these parties and policies?”

Stressing on the need of a change in U.P, she said, “You have been witnessing a politics of anarchy and corruption and you have been tolerating this for the past 22 years. Now you have a chance to elect a Congress Government in Uttar Pradesh”.
