Slamming Mayawati for not taking interest even in welfare of dalits and poor, Congress (I) has said she takes special interest in construction of parks and statues. Mayawati recently built statues for Baba Sahib Ambedkar, Kashiram and, of course, of her own. But even in that case also she indulged in scam of crores of rupees. Material for construction of statues was purchased at exorbitant rates. Inflated receipts were attached for the material purchased, said Congress (I). While the country respects construction of parks and statues in the honor of great personalities, indulging in scams by Mayawati government under that pretext can not be tolerated by the people, said Congress (I). When Poorvanchal is in the grip of encephalitis and drought hit Bundelkhand is facing acute hunger and starvation, construction of lavish parks and statues does not make any sense, said Congress (I).
