Flaying Mayawati for denying the poor farmers the benefits of farmers’ insurance scheme, Congress (I) has said this is her another scam causing havoc among marginal farmers. Having already lynched the poor farmers by forcibly acquiring their lands, leftover farmers have been done away by the insurance scam, said Congress (I). There is provision for insurance of farmers against calamities like drought, flood etc and full premium for the insurance is recovered from farmers. But farmers are being denied the benefits of this scheme by Mayawati. The affected farmers keep running from post to pillar but without getting any relief. Congress (I) has said farmers’ insurance scheme has turned out to be failure. Last year in Bijnor district there were floods as a result government assessed loss of Rs 10 crores to the farmers but till date nothing has been paid to the farmers by way of insurance relief, said Congress (I).
