Mayawati and her party looted Bundelkhand package: Congress (I)

Highlighting that Congress (I)-led UPA government at the Center had sanctioned a special package of Rs 8,000 crore for development schemes in  drought hit Bundelkhand, Rahul Gandhi has flayed Mayawati for utterly failing in utilization of  these funds for welfare schemes for the people of the region.  Her government managed to utilize less than 10% of the funds provided by the Center, said Rahul Gandhi while campaigning in the poll bound state. UP government submitted a utilization certificate for only Rs 71.92 crore against the fund release of Rs 800.97 crore, he said.  He pointed out that there was poor monitoring and rampant corruption in implementation of the package. Minister of state in rural development and Jhansi MP, Pradeep Jain, said, "Bundelkhand is not the focus of the state government. The funds are being released from Centre and the state could utilize only 8%-9%." Guaranteed employment under MNREGA is not being given to the poor. BPL cards have not been issued to many poor and those who have got such cards have not got job cards to enable to seek employment under MNREGA scheme.     Because of rampant corruption the funds earmarked for capacity building are being used for buying toys, calendars, laptops and for paying telephone bills and photocopies, said Congress (I).
